Secrets Written in Shadow

Imps

I first mistook the Imp for a nuisance rather than a threat. Small, restless, and seemingly incapable of causing any real harm, it followed me through the forest, repeating the same little whispers until I scarcely noticed them anymore.

That, I learned, is where the Imp’s true strength lies.

It represents the persistent thoughts and habits we allow to repeat themselves: the quiet criticism, the old doubt, the familiar self-sabotage, the small indulgences we promise will be the last. Each repetition makes the path easier to walk, until what once felt like a choice begins to feel like nature.

The Imp does not need to overpower you. It only needs you to keep listening.

Traveller’s Note:
Not every shadow must be fought. Some simply need to be noticed, named, and denied the food they have grown accustomed to receiving.
